Netflix to Release Documentary on Legendary Music Band The Who in March 2025

Netflix has announced the release of an exclusive documentary chronicling the legendary British rock band The Who. Titled Behind Blue Eyes: The Story of The Who, the film is set to premiere in March 2025 and promises to provide an in-depth exploration of the band’s journey, from their humble beginnings in London to their meteoric rise as one of the most influential acts in rock history. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Alex Turner, the documentary features never-before-seen archival footage, intimate interviews with surviving members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, and insights from music industry icons who were inspired by the band’s groundbreaking work.

The documentary delves into the band’s formative years in the 1960s, when they emerged as a voice for the rebellious youth of the era, producing timeless hits like My Generation, Baba O’Riley, and Won’t Get Fooled Again. It also examines their experimentation with rock operas such as Tommy and Quadrophenia, which redefined the boundaries of popular music. In addition to their musical achievements, Behind Blue Eyes will address the band’s challenges, including internal conflicts, the untimely deaths of drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle, and their eventual path to reconciliation and resurgence.

Netflix executives describe the project as a “celebration of musical genius and resilience.” Roger Daltrey, in a statement, expressed his excitement about the documentary, calling it “a fitting tribute to our fans and the incredible journey we’ve been on together.” Music enthusiasts and fans of The Who eagerly await the release, which is expected to reignite interest in the band’s storied legacy and introduce their timeless music to a new generation of listeners.
