Tupelo, Mississippi—the birthplace of Elvis Presley—is preparing to honor one of its most legendary sons in a long-overdue tribute. State officials and local organizers have confirmed that a statue commemorating Elvis Presley, the undisputed “King of Rock and Roll,” will be unveiled in late October 2025.

The statue, which will stand in downtown Tupelo near the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum, aims to celebrate Presley’s musical legacy and enduring cultural impact. The project has been years in the making, with local leaders and fans alike pushing for a fitting tribute to the global icon who began his journey in this small Southern town.

“Elvis put Mississippi on the world map,” said Mayor Todd Jordan. “This statue is more than just bronze and stone—it’s a symbol of pride for our community and a tribute to a man whose music changed the world.”

The life-size sculpture will feature Presley in one of his classic performance poses, guitar in hand, with details inspired by his early years and signature style. A dedication ceremony is being planned, expected to draw fans, musicians, and tourists from around the country and abroad.

Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo on January 8, 1935, and later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where his career skyrocketed. He went on to become one of the most influential entertainers of the 20th century, with hits like Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Can’t Help Falling in Love.

While memorials exist in Graceland and beyond, this statue will serve as a permanent reminder in the very place where it all began. For Tupelo and Mississippi, the King is finally coming home in stone—and in spirit.
