Local Crab Pot Thefts Linked to Underground “She Crab Soup” Ring
NAGS HEAD, NC – Outer Banks law enforcement is investigating a surge in crab pot thefts, with initial findings suggesting a connection to an elaborate, underground “She Crab Soup” ring operating in the region. Authorities believe the ring, known only as “The Claw,” is targeting local crabbers under the cloak of darkness, making off with hundreds of pounds of prime blue crabs.
“We’ve seen an unprecedented number of missing pots,” stated Dare County Sheriff’s Captain Marlin Pogue. “These aren’t just joyrides; these are calculated, professional heists. We suspect the crabs are being funneled to exclusive, secret supper clubs across the Outer Banks, where patrons are reportedly paying top dollar for illicitly sourced she crab soup.”
Local crabbers are urged to mark their pots clearly and report any suspicious activity. The Sheriff’s office is working with the Coast Guard and other agencies to crack down on “The Claw” and bring the masterminds behind this briny black market to justice.
