In a somber announcement today, the family of Eerie Von, renowned bassist of the influential bands Samhain, Danzig, and The Misfits, confirmed his passing. The news was shared by his fellow band members, who expressed deep sorrow at the loss of a pivotal figure in the punk and gothic rock scenes.

 

Eerie Von, born in Lodi, New Jersey, was not only a talented bassist but also a skilled photographer and visual artist. His photography book, *Misery Obscura: The Photography of Eerie Von (1981–2009)*, offers an intimate glimpse into the world of these iconic bands, featuring hundreds of color and black-and-white photos from the 1980s and 1990s.

 

In recent years, Von had been working on a documentary titled *Misery Perfectum*, which delves into the histories of The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. The project, which includes over 100 hours of video and thousands of photos, aims to provide a comprehensive look at the band’s legacy.
