Official Statement from Julian Alaphilippe
would like to express my sincere feelings following the final time trial at the 2025 Tour de Suisse. This week, I believed I was riding some of the best cycling of my season—perhaps even since my stage win at the 2024 Giro d’Italia. I entered the final day in a strong position to join the podium, and to fall short at such a late stage was incredibly tough. Upon seeing João Almeida pass me with just two kilometres to go, I was genuinely gutted .
688-0Cycling is a sport defined by fine margins. Despite this being a difficult moment, I remain proud of how aggressively we raced throughout the week. From the opening stages—including my breakaway efforts and battling in the wet and chaotic conditions—we showed determination and strong form . Even though the final time trial didn’t go as planned, I’m satisfied with my performance and the commitment I displayed.
I want to thank my Tudor Pro Cycling Team—staff and teammates—for their belief and support. Our collective effort was demonstrated on every climb and in every attack. To our fans: your energy and encouragement were felt each day; your support lifts me even in moments of disappointment.
As I shift focus to the upcoming Tour de France, I take this experience as fuel. There are still stages to inspire, challenges to embrace, and victories to fight for. I’m confident in my preparation and motivation. I may have been “gutted” this time, but I will channel that feeling constructively—because in this sport, the only way forward is through perseverance.
