BREAKING: Two Tourists Found Dead in Remote Vietnamese Cave Expedition
June 16, 2025 | Da Nang, Vietnam — Local authorities have confirmed that two foreign tourists, identified as **Eliot Graves**, 29, of New Zealand, and **Marina Rojas**, 27, of Argentina, were found dead late Monday in a remote cave system near Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
The pair had been reported missing three days earlier after failing to return from a guided exploration of the uncharted Bai Canh caverns. Search and rescue teams discovered their bodies approximately 7 kilometers inside the cave, in a narrow section partially flooded by recent heavy rains.
Preliminary reports suggest the deaths may have been caused by hypothermia and exhaustion. Authorities are still investigating.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Tourism has announced an immediate review of safety protocols for adventure tours in the region. Local guides and community leaders have expressed condolences to the victims’ families, calling the event a “tragic reminder of nature’s unpredictability.
