
BREAKING NEWS: POLICE SERGEANT KILLED IN OBX, NC
June 1, OBX, NC – In a heartbreaking incident, Sgt. J.D. White of the Angleton Police Department lost his life while escorting a funeral procession through the Outer Banks. Around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, while guiding the procession near Route 12, a speeding SUV failed to yield, striking the sergeant’s motorcycle with devastating force.
Witnesses say Sgt. White was thrown several feet and rendered unresponsive at the scene. Emergency responders acted quickly, airlifting him to a regional trauma center. Despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon.
Sgt. White was a decorated officer with over 18 years of service. He was known for his calm leadership, community outreach, and dedication to mentoring younger officers. Both the law enforcement community and local residents are mourning deeply.
A memorial is planned for later this week. Flags across the region have been lowered in his honor.
