Pastor John Hagee Passes Away Following Brief Illness
San Antonio, TX – Pastor John Hagee, the esteemed founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church, has passed away today following a brief illness, according to a statement released by his family. He was 85.
A towering figure in evangelical Christianity, Pastor Hagee dedicated over six decades to ministry, touching millions through his sermons, books, and broadcasts. His teachings, often centered on biblical prophecy, unwavering support for Israel, and moral clarity, earned him a global following.
He founded Cornerstone Church in 1987, growing it into a 22,000-member congregation, and launched Hagee Ministries, which brought his message to households worldwide. In 2006, he established Christians United for Israel (CUFI), now the largest pro-Israel Christian organization in the U.S.
In their statement, the Hagee family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support: “Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and shepherd has gone home to be with the Lord he served so faithfully.”
