BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Women’s Track and Field team has been ranked No. 8 in the latest edition of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Rankings, marking their continued presence among the nation’s elite programs as the 2025 indoor season progresses.
The LSU Tigers have maintained a strong position in the rankings, proving their competitiveness at the highest level in collegiate track and field. The team’s consistency and performance have propelled them into the top ten, a position they aim to improve as the indoor season reaches its peak. The No. 8 ranking reflects the depth and talent of the team, which continues to shine in a variety of events across the track and field spectrum.
Leading the way for the Tigers are several standout athletes who have excelled in their respective events. With the SEC Indoor Championships just around the corner, LSU’s athletes are primed for more success, including some already showing elite performances this season. Among the team’s top competitors, standout sprinter (athlete name) and field event star (athlete name) have garnered attention for their impressive marks, both of whom are expected to be major contenders at the NCAA Indoor Championships later this year.
In addition to individual success, LSU’s team-oriented performances have also been a key factor in the high ranking. The Tigers’ relays, particularly the 4×400-meter relay, have been competitive on both the conference and national levels, keeping LSU firmly in contention for a podium finish at the NCAA level.
This ranking comes as a result of the Tigers’ remarkable performances at various meets this season, including strong showings at the Texas Tech Invitational and the LSU Bayou Bengal. Notably, LSU’s women’s team has consistently demonstrated their dominance in the sprints, hurdles, and throws, contributing to the impressive national standing.
Head coach Dennis Shaver, who has been with LSU for over two decades, has played a pivotal role in maintaining the team’s success. Under his guidance, LSU continues to produce world-class athletes, and this ranking further solidifies his program’s standing as one of the nation’s most respected.
Looking ahead, LSU will seek to build on this momentum with the SEC Indoor Championships on the horizon. As the Tigers set their sights on another NCAA Indoor Championship, they’ll look to build on their No. 8 ranking and continue to showcase their strength, depth, and ambition.
The LSU Women’s Track and Field team’s continued presence in the top ranks of college track reflects their unwavering commitment to excellence and their pursuit of a national title this season.
