Netflix has announced the release of an exclusive documentary chronicling the extraordinary journey of U2, one of the most iconic and influential rock bands in history. Slated for a March 2025 premiere, the documentary promises to delve deep into the band’s nearly five-decade-long career, featuring rare archival footage, interviews with band members Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr., as well as insights from industry legends and collaborators. Titled U2: Sound & Spirit, the project aims to offer an intimate look at the band’s creative evolution and enduring impact on music and culture.

 

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, the documentary highlights key moments in U2’s history, from their formation in Dublin in 1976 to their rise as global superstars. It will explore the making of groundbreaking albums like The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, their socially-conscious activism, and their ability to reinvent themselves musically across decades.
