Netflix to Release Documentary on Def Leppard in March 2025
Netflix has announced the release of a highly anticipated documentary chronicling the rise, struggles, and triumphs of the legendary British rock band Def Leppard. Set to premiere in March 2025, the film, titled Pyromania: The Def Leppard Story, promises an intimate and detailed exploration of the band’s four-decade-long journey from their formation in Sheffield to becoming one of the most iconic rock acts in history. Featuring never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive interviews with the band members, and input from industry insiders, the documentary aims to provide a comprehensive look at the band’s legacy and enduring influence on rock music.
The project has been in development for over two years and is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lisa Carter, known for her work on music documentaries such as Echoes of Woodstock. According to Carter, the documentary will highlight the band’s resilience through major challenges, including drummer Rick Allen’s loss of an arm in a car accident and the tragic death of guitarist Steve Clark. It will also delve into their groundbreaking albums, such as Hysteria and Pyromania, which redefined rock music in the 1980s. “Def Leppard’s story is not just about music; it’s about perseverance, brotherhood, and an unyielding commitment to their craft,” Carter said in a press release.
Fans of the band and music enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting the release. In addition to the documentary, Netflix is reportedly planning to release a companion playlist featuring remastered versions of Def Leppard’s greatest hits. Band members Joe Elliott, Phil Collen, and Rick Savage have expressed their excitement about the project, calling it “a heartfelt tribute” to their journey and fans. With its combination of raw storytelling and legendary music, the documentary is expected to resonate deeply with both long-time followers of the band and a new generation of viewers.
