A recent search in the Outer Banks has tragically concluded with the discovery of one bodyānot multiple tourists or local athletes, as some circulated rumors suggest.
On October 14, the body of 49āyearāold Carlson āBJā Johnsonāa Kill Devil Hills residentāwas discovered by a local fisherman approximately two miles offshore, north of Oregon Inlet, following an extensive search after he failed to return from a fishing trip with his dog and boat . Authorities confirmed the body was Johnsonās and have launched a preliminary investigation into possible boating accident circumstances .
Johnson was reported missing after leaving Oregon Inlet on a 17āfoot Maycraft boat at around 11:45āÆa.m. the previous day. His dog and boat remain missing . Aerial, marine, and volunteer search efforts spanned over 36 hours before his body was located.
